Charles Lee x Reader, A Snowy Night.

Charles made his way out from the Green Dragon, the cold night air was such a contrast after being by a roaring fire. He took a deep breath of the calm winter air, the street was quiet, asides the noise that spilled from the tavern behind him. The man walked along the snow-covered street, little ice crystals breaking underfoot, as the fluffy snow crunched down into crisp ice. In the vast, dark sky hung a few distant stars, accompanied by a full moon, which sent its silver glow down lighting up the winter night, it made the snow glitter and icicles glimmer, its shimmering glow too illuminated the mans pale blue eyes. He turned trudging along the familiar streets of Boston, the crunching and crushing of snow beneath his boots was practically the only noise in the freezing night. His own house had just come into view as a few fresh flakes began twirling down from the sky, dancing and drifting about, before landing upon the powdery white ground. Charles reached the frosted gate, it creaked stiffly open as he pushed it, he hurried up the slippery path to the front door, being careful not to trip on the icy front steps, eagerness overflowing in him, he couldn’t wait to be inside and tell his wife the good news.

The door swung open into the dark hallway, it was rather small like the rest of the house, but there were a few nice pieces of furnishings that made it a welcoming room. Charles lit a lamp and locked the door behind him. Rubbing his hands together and trying to regain the feeling in them as he kicked off his boots, placing them to the side as little patches of snow that were on the treads began to melt, forming a puddle on the hall floor. Toby rushed into the hall, his little paws sliding on the floor before reaching his master, wagging his tail in greeting, Charles smiled as he bent down to greet the fluffy coated white dog. Toby hurried behind Charles as he made his way up the stairs, cursing the ninth step for creaking so loudly. He headed to his room opening the door silently, taking in the sight of his wife asleep, (y/n) looked beautiful, the cream blankets only reaching her waist, she wore a baby blue lounging robe, it was topped with white fur to keep her warm. Leaning against the doorframe he just smiled, her messy (h/c) was tousled wildly around her face, her soft lips were partly open as her chest rose and fell softly in her peaceful slumber. He was so taken in by her that he almost didn’t notice Tucker nuzzling his finger in greeting. Snapping from his gaze he looked at the scruffy little black dog and held back a chuckle as he bent down to give him a scratch. Then he shrugged of his coat and made his way to the side of the bed, Toby and Tucker close behind their master, their tails wagging happily.

Charles leaned down beside his wife, playing with her lustrous hair, letting it slip between his fingers swirling in a flourish back to the pillow. Her (e/c) eyes fluttered open, framed by her long lashes, they sparkled upon seeing him, her gentle lips formed a bright smile, a smile that made him sigh with contentment. “Good evening darling.” He greeted in a quiet but excited tone.

You looked at your husband, taking in his joyful expression and the way his ice blue eyes gleamed. “Evening Charles, have you only just gotten back?” You questioned, sitting up slightly to lean on one arm so you were at his level.

“Yes.” He responded, stroking your cheek tenderly with his cold fingers.

“Oh, your hands, they’re cold.” You took his larger hands and wrapped them in your own smaller, but still much warmer ones.

He leaned his forehead against your. “Thank you.” He murmured, placing a loving kiss on your lips, his lips were also cold as they lingered against your warm ones, his moustache ticking you skin slightly, you pulled back slowly and looked at him.

“How was the evening?” You asked, while Tucker clambered up onto the bed, wriggling over to lie next to your legs.

Charles seemed itching to tell you something but tried to compose himself. “How about we talk over some tea?” He suggested, his lively eyes sparkling with anticipation.

“Sounds like a fine idea.” You agreed, slipping out from the warm bed sheets and making your way out to make tea.

Soon you were both sitting on the large ottoman by the window, the snow outside still twirling in the sky, floating down delicately, though it was beginning to dwindle. The two dogs were curled up on the floor, cuddled into each other. Letting the hot drink pass your lips and soothingly warm you, you felt glad of your husbands arm around your body keeping you snug against himself. “Well...” Charles began, you drifted your eyes away from the window and back to him. “I…” He was bubbling with excitement and you had to hold back an amused smile at his schoolboy like behavior. Seeming to have no words he lifted his hand to show the Templar ring, Charles was finally one of them.

“Charles, that’s incredible.” You exclaimed, pulling him in an embrace, his energetic eyes filled with pride as he pulled away to place a soft kiss on your mouth. Though you had only been married for eight months, you had known him a relatively long time now, and knew just how much this meant to him.

“I can finally give us the lives we want (y/n).” He smiled, the man had dreamt of this promotion, worked hard for it too. Though you were always perfectly happy with the life you lead, you wanted this for him and…one other small reason, Charles refused one thing until he was promoted, but maybe now things would be different.

He walked to the bed with you, both snuggling under the covers, your legs entwining as you laced your fingers together. “Charles.” You whispered.

“Hmm?” He looked to you with calm blue eyes.

“Maybe now…we can…” You found your gaze wondering from his.

He raised an eyebrow. “We can?”

“Try for a baby.” You finished, unsure of how he would respond.

The man smiled gently. “Yes…yes we can.” He agreed, pulling you closer. “I can finally have the life I’ve worked for, give you the life you deserve, give our future children that life.” He rested his chin on your head, you could hear the pride in his voice as he talked about the future children.

“I’m very proud of you love.” You said softly.

You could hear the smile in his voice. “Thank you.” You slid down to face him, his pale eyes were filled with hopes and ideas. “My new position in the Templars makes me a man of consequence, our lives will be all the better now.” He promised.

“Charles…you were always a man of consequence to me.” You whispered.

“Well, thank you my dear.” He kissed your forehead.

You soon felt yourself lulling into sleep with your husbands arms wrapping around you, the warmth of his body against your own and the sound of his steady breathing filled you with familiar comfort. Letting your eyes slip shut as sleep carried you away.

Because I miss winter, really miss winter, so I wrote a little winter story, that and neck snapping or not, young Charlie is sort of cute…well I think he is adorable in his sassy English gentleman way. I know this is really short and that it wasn’t winter when Charles became a Templar, but maybe sometime I’ll write a longer story with a better plot for him. This was just for fluff.

Oh if you want to feel wintry, listen to this! www.youtube.com/watch?v=mhgzFa…
