Ezio x reader: A Friends Comfort.

Ezio x reader: A friends comfort.

You were sitting on your favourite rooftop in all of Florence. You sighed as you stared at the beautiful night sky. Recent events had caused you much sadness. Ezio's father and brothers had been hung. And now Ezio, your best friend was missing. He was obviously hiding, maybe he had even left the city. Not that you blamed him. The guards wanted to arrest him as well, they nearly succeeded at the hanging. You were so relived Ezio had not been caught. But there were many questions swimming around in your mind; what if he gets caught? What if he has been caught and you don't know? Has he left the city all ready? Would you ever see him again? These thought were interrupted by the sound of somebody walking behind you.

"(Y/N)" Ezio's voice called out.

"Ezio?" You spun around to see your dearest friend standing behind you. "Oh Ezio, thank God you're alright. I was so worried."

"I'm....I'm fine. I....It's just...so much has happened. Its all so much to try and understand. I mean why has this happened to my family?" He walked towards you.

"Ezio, I am truly so sorry for you. I....I wish there was something I could say or do." You sighed, feeling great pain yourself at this loss, you had always been close with the Auditores, after you lost your own family. They had been such comfort to you.  Federico and Ezio had always protected you like their baby sister. Giovanni had always been such a kind man to you, he always helped you if ever you had a problem. And Petruccio was an innocent child, such a wonderful little boy. Non of this was fair. Also seeing Ezio's eyes so filled with pain and that normally happy smirk replaced with a grim frown, that hurt you so much. You fought back the tears for Ezio's sake, after all, it was his family that had been killed.

He sat down next to you, looking up at the night sky. "(Y/N), I have to leave, take my family someplace safe."

"I understand Ezio. How are your mother and Claudia, coping?" You asked, though the thought of Ezio leaving made your heart sink, even it was for the best.

"The worst part is they don't know about......."He paused. "About .....that, yet. How can I look after them, I feel so lost in my own grief." His voice was breaking as he spoke.

You pulled Ezio into a hug. "Where will you go?" You asked him.

"To my uncles, to Monteriggioni . Maybe in time, as far as Spain." He said, holding onto you tightly.  

You pulled away so you could look him in his eye. "I will miss you more than words can say Ezio, but I want to tell you that, you're father and brothers would be proud of you, for looking after your mother and sister like this." You said, you're eyes damp with tears.

"(Y/N), come with us. I know it will not be easy, but please come, I don't want to lose anybody else that I care for."

"Ezio, you're like a brother to me. I would follow you anywhere. I just thought......."

"What? You didn't think I'd want to leave without you?" He said, his eyes growing more concerned.

"No, its just, you have enough worry right now and.....you don't need another burden."

"(Y/N)" His eyes locked with yours. "You are no burden, In truth I feel I may need you. You are truly a wonderful friend to me."

"Well then Ezio, to Spain and beyond, you won't be able to get away from me." You teased.

For a moment that smirk returned, but soon faded. "I........I just can't believe they are gone. My father, my brothers. What happened in my life, to cause it to go so wrong? I...I just feel so empty." Tears began to roll down his face, tears that had been kept away for to long. He was trying to be strong, independent and keep his emotions shut away. But here with you, he could finally let go.

You pulled him into a comforting embrace. "Ezio, I know this may not help much, but I will be here to help you as much as I can. I'll stay by your side no matter what life throws at us." You promised. More sobs shook his body, you continued to gently embrace him, speaking words of comfort until he began to calm down.

"Th..T...Thank you (Y/N). I'm sorry, it's just, since this has happened I haven't really...... let my emotions of such sadness take control. He looked a little ashamed for a moment.

"Ezio, you need not apologise. You can always talk to me, you are trying to help your family, but you need help yourself. I will help you as much as I can, you have been the greatest friend I have ever had, you've always been there for me and I will always be here for you."

"Grazie (Y/N). I'm glad to have you with me." A few tears slipped down your face, Ezio gently wiped them away. "I understand this must be hard for you too piccola I know how much you cared for my family. You really were like another sister to me."

You took a shaky breath, and then tried to relax. "Ezio I'm sorry, I..."

"Shhhh (Y/N), You haven't any reason to apologise."

"We can get through this together Ezio. For your mother and Claudia's sake, we must be strong." You said, giving his arm a gentle squeeze.

"Yes, you're right. I only hope and pray I can protect them."

"You will Ezio, besides you'll have me to help you."

"Hey, you need protecting too!" Ezio said, with a small smile on his face.

You scoffed at that. "Me, nah I'll be just fine. Though, I will have to keep an eye on you Ezio Auditore." You said gently poking his chest.

He laughed lightly. "You will probably get bored with me saying this, but I am so glad to have you here."

"I'll always be here for you Ezio. Oh Ezio what about Christina?" You asked. You wanted to slap yourself for asking, because as soon as Ezio heard his lovers name, he looked so sad and hurt once more.

"She.....She will not leave her family, she isn't going to come with me."

"I'm sorry to hear that."

"No its fine. I need to focus on the day ahead. We will leave for Monteriggioni tomorrow morning." Ezio stated.

"Okay, I'll be waiting for you just outside the city."

"Thank's (Y/N)."

"Now lets go and get some rest. I will see you in the morning."

"Va bene, I'll go back to paola's and get some sleep."

You both stood up and walked along together, until Ezio reached paola's. "Good night Ezio." You said.

He pulled you into a warm embrace. "Goodnight (Y/N), rest well." He whispered.

"You too."

"And Thank you again, you have no idea how much your friendship means to me." Then he turned and walked into the brothel, you left and headed for home, off to get some sleep for the long day ahead.
